How does our own Gov't manipulate us? Do you feel that they control us at the gov't in the novel does?

Our goverment dosent control us. We can do whatever we want, but they're consquences. We dont have to work but then we dont have a home. We dont ahve to stay sober and drive, but tehn someone dies and you're behind bars. No the goverment dosent control us, they control ou economy. They control the value of a dollar but how many mistakes they have taken. So we can work extra hours get a side job to put food on the table or we can starve ..its not like they're forcing us to get up and go to work. Its a free country right? We can make our own buissness control what we sell and who we sell it too. We're not being forced to do stuff. But if we wanna live we better do what the goverment tells us to.

Our government does manipulate us but I feel it is for the good (most of the time anyways). They try to keep us from doing things that are wrong and from harming others that live alongside us. But if the government ever gets as controling as it does in the novel, I don't think I would be able to stand that. They make it so that people aren't individuals but a whole group. Being individuals is what makes the world so interseting. They also make it so you can't have like your own freedom. You can only have a certain job, you are born with certain traits, and sometimes if you are in the lower caste, you look exactly like thousands of other people sometimes. I don't think a government should ever have that much power in its hands.

I feel as if our government doesn't control us at all. We are a democracy. However, if you talk on the phone, send a letter, or post something online, they will be listening in. So, don't do this stuff. Oh Crap! They're reading this right now. George Bush is going to get me

I feel that our government manipulates us somewhat but not overcontrolling like how it is in the novel. Our government makes sure people don't do bad things like steal or kill other people but they do not control our personality, the clothes we wear, or our beliefs. I would hate it if our government became like the one in the novel because no one is independent and there are groups of so many people that look exactly alike, which would be boring.

I don't believe we are manipulated or controlled by our govrnment like the novel's government does. That would be rediculous. The only thing our government controls is our negative actions. What I mean by that is that we have a government with laws that protect us but in a way also control us. This is a good thing though because without these laws people would kill other people and much more unethical stuff would happen if we did not have a justice system. It's not negative control like the novel's government uses.

I feel that our government does has manipulate us, they are control of the consequences over the majority of our actions. What ever you do if its good or bad your government or its policies determine your punishment. But like kayla said it is a free contry, but when you are in jail for a crime that you didnt commit, then were did your freedom go? To the government and there policies and what they believe is right and should take place.

the only way I think that the government manipulates me, is by telling me to not do things like drugs. They also tell us not to drink alcohol. Our government is nothing like that of Brave New World's governments. There was still all different countries, but not different gov's. They all were run the same. It is different then ours because all the morals and rules our gov. tries to instill in us, the fictional gov. tries to avoid, like abstinenc, they have children learn how to have sex at like 5!!

Our government does control us...they constrict us from doing bad things. people can do whatever they want like rob a store or run a red light but there willbe consequences. and these actually keep us from doing bad things. in BNW they are very controlling. they tell everyone what to do and who to be. they are all basically the same people. and if theey do anything wrong or say wrong then they have huge concequences. they have no freedom and i hope that that would never happen to our country.

I don't think our government manipulates us at all. I think the government knows what's best for all of us at all times. I'm proud to live here. Also, remember to buy war bonds.

Since our government is a democracy, I do not think that it manipulates us very much. The government makes laws and enforces them, but other than that we are pretty much free to do whatever we want. Everyone is free and has a choice and a voice. The characters in "A Brave New World," however, do not. For example, they are segregated into groups (Alphas, Gammas, Epsilons, etc.) and in our society we are not segregated like that.

I think that the govt controls us a little bit, but nothing like in the novel. In the novel, the governmet has most control, almost over free will. The only thingthat the government controls is, like kayla says, our consequences. Its like a balance scale; when one side goes down, the other goes up.

our government manipulates us to the point where were in dept and they want us to think thats all the other peoples fault and that they caused this but really we let our government let someone who doesn't have a clue run our society so were the ones being manipulated.
