Reaction to Hamlet

React to any of Act I scene 5 or Act II scene 1 using two vocabulary words. You can discuss what information Hamlet is given my his father, what Hamlet might be thinking, whether it is ethical for a father to spy on his son (as Polonius does), etc.

If I was Ophiela i would be inexorable about hamlet and mine's relationship. I would not obey my father(polenoius) and i would make sure he knew i would not boey him. The asperity would be great in the confilct. Ohilea not seeing Hamlet only makes her depressed and then seh kills hersefl and balh blah blah. So, on behalf of my life i would not listen to my father and i woudl stay with Hamelt.

I don't think it is ethical for a father to spy on his son. If his son is going to college he should trust him enough to stay out of trouble. You shouldn't let your doubts about your son become so onerous that you must spy on him. He can't always be there for his son so Polonius should teach himself to trust his son. Laretes should know by now what is exceptable and how to keep away from being impecunious. If not then he's not ready to leave home.

I thought that Hamlet's father's speech foreshadows a lot of things to come. I do not agree with Laertes' father spying on him,and i agree with Sara with the "you should trust him" thing. Athough it seems that in thisplay, this is a rife thing. I also think that it intersting that Hamlet forms a cabal with his 2 friends.

As a teenager, I hated when my parents tried to tell me how to date (who to love!) because I always thought that they could not possibly know everything about the situation. Well, guess what? They were always right! Parents have two things going for them: wisdom from experience and objectivity! Now that I am older, I am grateful that my parents forbid me to to half the things I wanted to! So...do you think Polonius, as a PARENT, is making the right decision for Ophelia? Do you think he is being wise to keep Ophelia from getting hurt?

In my opinion, the onerous information that Hamlet's father gave his son overwhelmed him. Hamlet now knows that his uncle killed his father. The King then tells Hamlet to winnow his uncle by killing him, but I think that Hamlet will have a hard time doing that, considering the fact that they are family. For me, killing my uncle (or anyone) would be extremely difficult no matter what he did. I'm anxious to see if Hamlet does what the ghost of his father tells him to do.

i really don't think its ethical to spy on someone but if you think they're doing somthing wrong then shure more power to yeah spy on them if you want to its to help save the ones you love and thats what polonius did when his son laretes goes off to collage but don't make it a habbit of doing that because it will be invading his or hers privacy and just temp him to do somthing bad because your being to onerous so just give him or her some space and trust them.

I was sick yesterday and unable to blog, so I guess I'll do it today. I do not think it is ethical to spy on your own son. Especially by the time they reach college. They are grown adults by that point (kinda).
I think Hamlet's uncle is just weird. He winnowed his own brother. How could you do that? My brother is far from delectable, but you don't see me stabbing him and stealing his wife. What up wit dat? (Stallman Language: What is up with that?) Speaking of which, I have to deprecate you Mrs. Stallman. Your parents are not the compass on true love. For example, since we're talking about the works of Shakespeare, in Romeo & Juliet, their parents forbid them from being together. However, they truely loved eachother (enough to kill them selves obviously).
Anyway, that's my rant about Shakespeare's Hamlet. I bet no one but Mrs. Stallman will even read this since its late.

I dont think that it is ecthical for someone to spy on their son, it is not rife. They wanted to spay on Hamlet because thay had electis information that Hamlet was not being hisself. Polinius and his son Laertes formed a cabal and decided that they were goin to spy on Hamlet to really find out whats goin on.
