Welcome!

Welcome 11 CP students! This site is going to serve as a fun way to communicate, share, and discuss various topics. To begin, let's conduct a trial discussion on a favorite book. Each student should post at least two comments in response to the topic and to others' comments. Let's begin...one of my favorites is a book called Rebecca. It reads like a ghost story and a mystery. One of the biggest reasons I like it is because it has not one twist, but TWO twists at the end. Just when you think the surprises are over...you are surprised again!

my favorite book is "Never Stuff Your Dog" by alan alda. It is a heart warming book filled with pranks and memories. I liked this book because alan alda is one of my favorite actors. he played on MASH and other films. So when he wrote his autobiography i went out and read it. It was a childhood that was un like many others and the book kept my attention. Not to mention it also kept me laughing . :)

My favorite book is Book of lists : subversive facts and hidden information in rapid-fire format, by Russ Kick. I enjoyed this book because it's got a bunch of facts about random topics. This book has many different lists of things from famous historians who were drug addicts, to songs that are banned in America. I recommend this book for anyone who is looking for some interesting/random facts to read about, or anyone who has some life questions. I'm also recommending other books wrote by Russ Kick because he writes about topics concerning todays society.

One of my favorite books that i have read is All but My Life. Our grade had to read this book for a summer reading last year and it was pretty interesting. I liked how it was a true story and it was very detailed. I liked reading the book because it was kind of a learning lesson. These people were seperated from their familys and friends. All But My Life tought me not to take things for granit. It was a very good book.

Over the summer I read A thousand splendid suns. It was a very interesting book. This book was the most interesting book to read out of the other few books a read in the summer. I was very surprised to read what these women had to go through. After these things happened they continued to support each other and remain strong untill the end. I'm glad to have read this book because I understand more about their culture. Before I read this book I did not understand why the women had to wear the things that they did. This was my favorite book so far that I have read. I did not find other books I have read as interesting. It made me think how much people in different countries are so very different from us. Not everyone has the same equal rights in their country as we do. I liked this book because I understood more about the Taliban and how awful this group was. I also liked the ending of the book. It showed how close the two main characters were. I also liked how two stories came together in the middle of the book.

My favorite book is called Dear John. Nicholas Sparks is the author of this book and I really like his stories. I've read a couple books written by him, but Dear John is my favorite. The reason why I like it so much is because the setting is by the beach, which is my favorite place to go. Another reason why I like the book is because it takes place at a more recent time. The timing of the story is around September 11, 2001, so it was easy for me to follow what was going on. The ending of the book was a little disappointing and it made me cry, but it made me think a lot, too.

My favorite book is Scar tissue by the red hot chili peppers. I like this book because it explains what has happend in there lives, mostly about the lead singer, Anthony Kiedis. It also gives you a better understanding of what their songs mean and why they were written. This is one of my favorite bands also. Another reason why i like this book is because i can relate to many things in it. It tells about all the hard times that Anthony had to go through in his like dealing with drugs and other things.

My favorite book, as of now, is Breaking Dawn. This book is the last in the Twilight Series. These books are about a girl, Bella, who falls in love with a vegetarian vampire. That means he dosen't drink human blood. Throughout all the books the couple has a lot of problems. Some of these problems include: more vampires, werewolves, and native americans. I strongly recommend these books for everyone who likes vampires and romance!

One of my favorite books is called A Child Called It.I like the book because it was very suspenseful. It is about a kid that was beat by his mom. His mom almost killed him a couple times throughout his childhood. I never knew what was going to happen so it made me want to read more.

My favorite book is the DaVinchi Code by Dan Brown. It is about a cryptologist, who follows a trail of clues and eventually finds the "Holy Grail." I like this book, because it is extremely supspensful. It keeps you on your toes by changing the plot direction quite often. I also love all of the controversy behind it. It is so fun to argue with people over the facts provided. Dan Brown also does a very good job creating likeable (or hateable) characters. He also wrote another of my favorites, Angels and Demons. Just FYI!

one of my favorite books it called 'arms of deliverance.' it is a ww2 story that flip flops back and forth between 3 different stories; a jewish woman disguised as an aryan, 2 competing reporters sent over to england as war correspondants, and a figher pilot. it keeps you interested because the jewish woman is actually datin an ss officer. te two reporters are sent over, coincidentally being forced to stay in the same room. the pilot goes through many losses with some of his best friends, and it really opens your eyes to how a war effects every person. its a very moving story and i love reading it.

My favorite book is called "Catch-22" by Joseph Heller. It's about a bombardier for the U.S. Army named "Yossarian" who keeps trying to find a way out of flying missions. But everythime he gets enough missions to go home, his captain raises them, and when he goes to the doctor to sk to go home because he's crazy, they make him stay, because only a sane man would ask to leave. The little loopholes that keep him there are called Catch-22's, and they start to ruin his life. What I love about this book is that, at first, you begin to suspect that Yossarian is crazy, but towards the end, you realize, that he was the only sane person in the entire book.

over the summer i actually read not just one book but actually a series. the series that i read was the Twilight series by Stephaine Meyer. these books are like a cross between a juliet and romeo forbidden romance and many of the myths you hear about (vampires, werewolves, etc.). but my favorite book out of all of them was Breaking Dawn. of all the books, it is the most suspensful and i seriously sat for a whole day and did nothing but read the book. these books are very detailed in the way she writes them and every time i start reading my mind follows along with pictures of what is happening.
all the books are amazing, but Breaking Dawn is, no doubt, above the rest by a mile.
and... i suggest anybody read it.
(and see the movie on the 21 of november!)
:]

My favorite book would have to be Speak. We used this book for the summer reading assignnment freshman year. It is about a teen girl that has to go to a new school and she is basically like an outcast. It really grabbed my attention and kept me interested in reading it. Also the book was easy reading and it was an easy book to write an essay about. many kids can relate to this book because things that happened in the story also happenes in thier own school. It was also nice that it was a story that took place in modern time and not something that happned a long time ago. Ther was never a boring part in the story which is also another good thing.

Hey Sam, is Twilight really about mythicla creatures? That is cool. Oh, and whne you say that its like a romeo juliet romance thing, you dont mean the text is the same, like the old fashion wording? cause then i dont think i would read it :/. haha ill get so confused. But , yeah seriously if its really as good as you say it is then i really want to borrow the books and read them . They sound so cool. and i might like Breaking Dawn just as much as you do :).

well deffentily tell me about the seres today in class.

Hey Abby! Dear John sounds really interesting. I've read a book by Nicholas Sparks, The Notebook, and I really liked it! Is this book a romance too? Is it about the events on Sept.11 or does it just take place during the time period? Which beach does it take place at? It sounds sorta interesting so I would like to know more about it before I read it.

Let me try this!

Stephanie-
I love the Red Hot Chili Peppers too. I think I would like to read that book sometime. I heard Anthony Kiedis had a really rough life growing up because his dad was a drug dealer.

Andrea-
Dear John is a romance book too. September 11 is mentioned in the book and plays a huge role in what ends up happening, but the actual story isn't about the events that took place. The story takes place in North Carolina but I forget the city name. You should read it.

I have not read a child called it. I have heard that it was a very good book though. do you have a favorite part? I have heard rumors about how awful a mother treated her son so im not sure i could read this book! Is the mother really cruel in this book?

Kayla-

I have watched the show mash a few times. what is so interesting about this actors childhood? Who started you on watching mash? isnt that a very old movie/show?

(This is Ed, I made my email account when I was fourteen, so don't make fun of it.)

Derek, "Book of lists : subversive facts and hidden information in rapid-fire format" sounds pretty awesome. The randomness of creating a book of lists just astounds me. That has to be one of the most creative book ideas I've heard in a while.

Kayla, Alan Alda has to be one of my favorite actors. I loved him in "M.A.S.H". I think I just might need to get to the library and see if they have it.

KayLa-
The book is about this girl named Bella who falls in love with a vampire but is also best friends with a werewolf (they are natural enemies and only makes the book better). And no, the wording is not in the old English. i would totally agree with you and probably not read it if it was. but i have all four books and if you really want to read it, i'll let you borrow them but i think someone already is (maybe luke?).

dylan-
i read that book to pass the time while i was in europe two summers ago and i loved it! like all the other books i love, i couldn't put it down. it was very controversial and told some history about places in europe, which helped me out a little.

stephaine-

The book "scar tissue" sounds like a really great book and seems like not all rock stars have the most perfect childhood but everyone has to start out some where.
